Michael Clay Thompson’s Grammar Voyage and Caesar’s English II from Royal Fireworks Press, adapted to fit the needs of modern gifted learners. Michael Clay Thompson’s Grammar Voyage and Caesar’s English II from Royal Fireworks Press, adapted to fit the needs of modern gifted learners. This is a year-long course condensed into a single semester. Weekly webinars are 50 minutes long. Recordings are available for students who must miss a session.

Students will:

  • study parts of speech, sentence structure, phrases and clauses through videos and stories
  • practice with exciting games and activities
  • learn Michael Clay Thompson’s 4-level sentence labeling system
  • study word roots and vocabulary in the context of great literature
  • write stories with new vocabulary words
  • participate in live webinars

Required books:

Any student edition of the above texts can be used. The books are read in order from front to back, and reading assignments are posted by chapter and topic, not page number, so formatting changes between editions will not affect readability.

Grade Level

Middle school grammar and vocabulary. Appropriate for students of all ages who are seeking an accelerated introduction to grammar and vocabulary study.

Time Commitment

Most students report spending approximately 3 hours per week on homework outside of the webinar.

Prerequisites

Grammar Town or equivalent. Students must be able to read fluently at the 5th grade level or above. Students should also have a strong understanding of the 8 parts of speech and subjects and predicates.
